ZB member Elwira Grossman has shared the news that on 30th June Antonia Lloyd-Jones has been awarded an Honorary Degree from the University of Glasgow, in recognition of her outstanding contribution to literary translation and intercultural exchange.
Antonia Lloyd-Jones is a well-known translator of Polish literature into English. Among the works she has translated which we’ve read at Zielony Balonik – fiction, non-fiction and poetry – are Swallowing Mercury by Wioletta Greg, Inhuman Land: Searching for the Truth in Soviet Russia, 1941-1942 by Jozef Czapski, and poems by Jacek Dehnel in the anthology Six Polish poets.
She also edited The Penguin Book of Polish Short Stories.
